We are pleased to announce support for running Amazon RDS DB Instances in Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC). With Amazon VPC, you can define a virtual network topology and customize the network configuration to closely resemble a traditional network that you might operate in your own datacenter.

You can now take advantage of the manageability, availability and scalability benefits of Amazon RDS DB Instances in your own isolated network. The same functionality of Amazon RDS including managing backups, replication for high availability, automatic failure detection and recovery, software patching, and ease of scaling your compute capacity and storage based on your application demand, are now available in Amazon VPC.

To learn more about running Amazon RDS DB Instances in VPC, refer to the Amazon RDS User Guide and Amazon RDS FAQs.
