Amazon RDS resource tags can now be copied to DB snapshots of RDS database instances

Posted on: Jul 20, 2015

Amazon RDS resource tags allow you to add metadata and apply access policies to your Amazon RDS resources. Starting today, you can allow tags set on your database instances to be automatically copied to any automated or manual database snapshots that are created from your instances. This allows you to easily set metadata, including access policies, on your snapshots to match the parent instance. You may enable this functionality while creating a new instance, or on an existing database instance. You may also choose to disable it at a future date. Once enabled, tags can be copied to all future copies of a snapshot, including cross-region snapshots. Learn more about enabling copying tags to DB snapshots.
