Auto Scaling enhances policies to help you scale faster
Starting today, Auto Scaling can help you scale your application better and faster.
You can now set up step scaling policies that allow you to scale your Auto Scaling group based on the magnitude of the alarm breach, giving you more control over how Auto Scaling responds to an alarm breach. In addition, your alarms are continuously evaluated as they are triggered, which will allow you to scale up much more quickly. Previously, when either a scaling activity or a health check replacement was in progress, responses to your alarms would not occur until the scaling activity or health check replacement completed and the cooldown period had expired. Now, any alarms that are triggered will be evaluated as they occur and your group will continue to scale accordingly.
You can set up these new scaling policies using the Auto Scaling API, AWS SDKs, command-line tools, and the AWS Management console. To learn more, please see our documentation.
