Amazon EC2 High I/O Instances now available as Spot Instances
Spot instances now support Amazon EC2’s storage-optimized, high I/O i2 instance types. These instances provide very fast SSD-backed instance storage that is optimized for very high random I/O performance at a low cost. With i2 Spot instances, you can add high-memory worker nodes to your Hadoop and Spark clusters, perform data-intensive social media and advertising analytics, and simulate production environments for your continuous integration and deployment applications.
You can launch i2 Spot instances using the AWS Management Console or the Amazon EC2 CLI/SDK tools using the RequestSpotFleet and RequestSpotInstances APIs. I2 Spot instances are available in the US East (N. Virginia), US West (N. California), US West (Oregon), EU (Ireland), EU (Frankfurt), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo) AWS regions.
