By Andrew Kloman, Global Technology Lead, Digital Workplace Partners at AWS

We are excited to introduce the AWS Digital Workplace Competency with highly-specialized AWS Partners supporting remote workers and business continuity with end-to-end digital workplace solutions in the cloud.

The AWS Digital Workplace Competency helps Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers find the right partner for the job. Our best-in-class ISV Partners can help reduce security risks and meet compliance requirements, while freeing end users from the office and enabling them to work securely on any device, from anywhere, at any time.

The AWS Competency Program is built to go beyond the meaning of the word “competent.” It’s one of the toughest designations an AWS Partner can achieve and maintain, giving customers confidence in choosing validated AWS Partners to team up with.

The AWS Digital Workplace Competency takes on the heavy lifting of identifying and validating industry leaders with proven customer success and technical proficiency in endpoint management, application management, and collaboration platforms.

Endpoint Management

Endpoint management includes solutions that provision, protect, and provide intelligence. These deliver provisioning for lifecycle management, enterprise-level endpoint management, and desktop-as-a-service capabilities.

An important element to these solutions is protecting the endpoint devices—whether it’s providing endpoint encryption, anti-virus, or remote wipe. From an intelligence aspect, these solutions provide usage statistics, compliance monitoring, alerting, and reporting.

Application Management

Application management consists of solutions that provision applications, and protect or gather intelligence from web applications, desktop client OS applications, or mobile device applications.

From a provisioning standpoint, AWS identifies streaming solutions and virtualization solutions, as well as self-service portals. Protecting data at this level is pertinent, and we look at solutions that provide identity management tools, containerization, and integrity. Finally, from the intelligence operation we can gather usage statistics, monitor application performance, and monitor compliance.

Application management is an area where customers may leverage more than one solution across an organization depending on user requirements. Some application management services are best suited for streaming a particular application to users for a seamless experience, while others may deliver a full desktop experience.

Collaboration Platforms

Collaboration refers to solutions that manage the provisioning of collaboration solutions for end user to end user, or to many end users. They also protect or gather intelligence from these collaborations.

In the AWS Digital Workplace Competency, we focus on how files are managed and stored, availability of files, and data that need to be shared or edited by a group, and we also consider communication tools. These collaboration services provision data via file share and sync services, unified communications, virtual meeting rooms, and more.

From a protection standpoint, we are focused on preventing data loss, management of the rights to particular files or data, data integrity, and encryption. Intelligence provides quality control, digital experience monitoring, and compliance. As we have defined, customers will most likely consider more than one collaboration service to meet the needs of their users.
