AWS Special Hiring Event in Berlin

We’re hiring in Berlin! We are scaling up the existing AWS OpsWorks team and we’re building a new Machine Learning team as well.

We are setting up a recruiting event in Berlin that will run from the 11th to the 17th of March. If you are interested in attending the event or just want to learn more, please email the team at aws-berlin-jobs@amazon.com .

Here are the job descriptions:

AWS OpsWorks
AWS OpsWorks is an integrated management experience for the entire application lifecycle including resource provisioning, configuration management, application deployment, monitoring, and access control. OpsWorks features EC2 instance management, Chef-integration, CloudWatch monitoring support, automatic reaping of instance, and auto-scaling based on time or load.

The AWS OpsWorks team is looking for developers who want to help us build large-scale infrastructure management services. You will be responsible for architecting, developing, and operating a highly scalable distributed system that powers thousands of servers. You should have strong technical abilities, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. A successful candidate will be a hands-on developer with an established background in distributed systems, complex architectures, and/or data storage. Even though we work mainly with Ruby, Java, JavaScript, CoffeeScript, and Chef there are so many other interesting bits that should keep every programmer happy – regardless of you main programming language. If you have a passion for how applications should be built, care about making other developers lives better, and thrive in a startup environment – we’d love to talk to you!

Machine Learning
Amazon is building a European Machine Learning (ML) team in Berlin!  The Machine Learning team at Amazon is comprised of technical leaders who develop planet-scale platforms for machine learning on the cloud, assist the benchmarking and future development of existing machine learning applications across Amazon, and help develop novel and infinitely-scalable applications that optimize Amazons systems using cutting edge quantitative techniques. The ML team innovates algorithms that model patterns within data to drive automated decisions at scale in all corners of the company, including our eCommerce site and subsidiaries, Amazon Web Services, Seller & Buyer Services and Digital Media including Kindle.  Being part of the Machine Learning team at Amazon is one of the most exciting engineering job opportunities in the world today.  If you are deeply technical, know how to deliver, highly innovative and long for the opportunity to build solutions to challenging problems that directly affect millions of people: there may be no better place than Amazon for you to impact the world!

We are looking for engineers with a passion and a track-record in distributed systems and storage development for building Machine Learning services and tools. Applicants should have experience with scalable storage systems (e.g. S3, Memcached), network protocols (e.g., MPI, Thrift) and distributed computations (EC2, MapReduce). Experience with developing and operating real-time systems and highly scalable databases are preferred. C++ & Java as well as scripting languages like Python and good knowledge of Linux development are required.
