Announcing VM Import for Linux

Posted on: Dec 16, 2013

We are excited to announce the immediate availability of VM Import for Linux, a new feature that enables you to import Linux VMs to Amazon EC2. Using VM Import for Linux, you can now take VMs running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu, CentOS, or Debian on top of VMware, the Hyper-V role in Windows Server, or Citrix Xen and convert them into EC2 instances.

VM Import can help you migrate your existing workloads, Enterprise applications, or VM catalog to Amazon EC2. In addition to the newly-added support for Linux VMs, you can also import Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 VMs to EC2 using VM Import. You can also use VM Export to export your previously imported Linux and Windows VMs.

You can learn more about VM Import in the Amazon EC2 User Guide.
