EC2 sanity test tool
The EC2 sanity test script creates a local mini boot with an EC2 image so you can check out your image before uploading it to AWS. It doesn't require a heavyweight install of Xen or Eucalyptus but that also means its limited to providing a quick smoke test.
In particular it is good at resolving login or network startup issues locally without draining upload bandwidth
