IMAP Backup & Archiver uses the standard secure IMAP Protocol to access the user's mailbox to retrieve emails periodically. The service creates daily Backup Snapshots that are kept for 30 days (Backup Retention). A "Snapshot" is a copy of the user's mailbox folders and emails that were present at the time of the backup.
The Archiver keeps all the current messages that are in the user's mailbox and all the deleted messages for 12 months (default Archiver Retention Period). Both retention periods can be extended. The user can search the Archiver for messages using criteria such as "folder", "to", "from", "dates" and "subject".
New messages in users' accounts are compressed and encrypted then stored in Amazon S3.
Users can restore a snapshot to a new "restore folder", to the "original folders" without duplicates or to another account (mailbox and/or server). When users search their messages with criteria such as "folder", "to", "from", "dates" and "subject", they can then restore all or a subset of the messages found.
The IMAP Backup and Archiver works transparently in the background and does not impact users' email service. Business owners, IT personnel and end users utilize an easy to use web interface to manage accounts, view backups, search the archive and restore messages 24x7.
