In a crowded market of digital music services, Musana is providing a different and much easier user experience. Wherever they are - for instance, traveling on business or visiting friends - our users can enjoy a free, on-demand music experience similar to the one they enjoy in their own living room," states Frdric Thuard, co-founder & CEO of Musana.
Whether used via a PC or on a mobile handset, using the Musana music player is similar to working with a CD collection. "Because listening to music online should not mean sorting through a tedious list of digital files, we allow users to visualise album covers and open a CD case to access their files. This is all part of the fun of enjoying music in the real world, so we are simply replicating the normal user experience in the digital world," explains Frdric Thuard.
The Musana service provides music identification for each file through Gracenote's MusicID technology. Gracenote provides recognition technology, enriched content, data services and embedded solutions for digital entertainment products and services.
Musana is powered by AWS S3 & ECC to build a scalable architecture. While providing free streaming access to music for the initial service, Musana will progressively deploy an ad-supported business model linked to the affiliation of value added services such as content recommendation and purchasing. Frdric Thuard explained: "as the music industry struggles to get a clearer picture of how advertising will help build new revenues, Musana is a straightforward and quality-centric answer to strong user demand for free, legal online music services.
