Ozmo
Ozmo is a Web-based solution that makes it easy for independent content creators to license the use of their work for commercial purposes and for content users to tap into the wealth of user-generated content found online. When the Ozmo tag is applied to online content—whether it is on a private Web site, an open image sharing site such as Picasa, or the Ozmo site—users know it's legal and creators know they're getting paid for the use of their work.
Ozmo uses Amazon Flexible Payment Service (FPS) to handle all transactions. We investigated several ways to handle transactions, and we decided on Amazon FPS because it allows us to orchestrate transactions between two parties—the rightsholder and the buyer—without getting in the middle in a heavy way, without creating multiple transactions, and without passing the funds through us. The transaction is handled outside Ozmo—by Amazon.com, and the seller gets paid as soon as the transaction clears. We found the perfect payments solution.
Amazon delivers instant payment and anti-fraud protection. When a license is purchased and the transaction is completed, Ozmo emails the content creator and the license buyer with all the necessary transaction details. The flexibility of Amazon's payment services has enabled CCC to deliver a smooth customer experience and provide them the security that they require at a cost to implement well below what it would cost for CCC to build out on our own. Amazon has the expertise and experience to deliver a comprehensive transactional system at a cost within reach of the average content creator regardless of whether they are an amateur or professional.
