AWS is introducing a limited time free trial program for Amazon ElastiCache to help AWS customers who are new to Amazon ElastiCache to get started. Eligible customers will be able to run one free small Cache Node for sixty days. The Amazon ElastiCache free trial program can be used to develop new applications, test existing applications, or simply gain hands-on experience with Amazon ElastiCache. Below are the details of Amazon ElastiCache free trial program.
We offer a free trial for 60 days to all AWS customers who are new to Amazon ElastiCache. You are also eligible if you have had no paid ElastiCache usage since March 1, 2012. Each calendar month, the free trial program will allow you to use:
The free trial program applies across all AWS regions: US East (Northern Virginia), US West (Oregon), US West (Northern California), EU (Ireland), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), and South America (Sao Paulo). Your usage is calculated each month across all regions and automatically applied to your bill. For example, you will receive 750 Small Cache Node hours for free across all of the Regions, not 750 hours per Region. Note that free usage does not accumulate. For more details, please see our free trial FAQs page.
Amazon ElastiCache improves the performance of your web applications by retrieving data from a fast, in-memory cache instead of relying entirely on disk-based storage. Unlike other caching mechanisms, Amazon ElastiCache is fully-managed so you don’t have to worry about maintaining your own caching infrastructure. In addition, it is Memcached-compatible, so if you have existing Memcached-enabled applications, they should work with ElastiCache without any code changes.
Amazon ElastiCache can reduce the load on your databases significantly and improve throughput for read-heavy or compute-intensive workloads including:
Automatic Failure Detection and Recovery
Detailed Monitoring and Metrics in Amazon CloudWatch
Add or Remove Cache Nodes with a few clicks or an API call
Automatic software patching
Compatibility with existing Memcached applications and tools
