Amazon Flexible Payment Service

Amazon Flexible Payments Service (Amazon FPS) is the first payments service designed from the ground up specifically for developers. It is built on top of Amazon’s reliable and scalable payments infrastructure and provides developers with a convenient way to charge Amazon’s tens of millions of customers (with their permission, of course!). Amazon customers can pay using the same login credentials, shipping address and payment information they already have on file with Amazon.

With this release, we are also launching Amazon FPS Quick Starts, a set of simplified APIs that ease integration while maintaining the flexibility of Amazon FPS. Amazon FPS Quick Starts aggregate various Amazon FPS APIs into a simplified set of APIs that accelerate development time by significantly reducing the number of calls required to implement an Amazon-FPS based solution.

Amazon FPS Quick Starts include:

• Basic Quick Start enables one-time payments for e-commerce and digital goods , donations, and any other online service.
• Advanced Quick Start provides periodic or delayed payment features required by subscription and usage-based services such as digital music and online storage. Advanced Quick Start offers developers flexibility in specifying payment instructions by time period, amount, and frequency. For example, a user can make recurring payments for a specific amount at regular intervals or a sender might set a spending limit per week for a particular named recipient.
• Marketplace Quick Start is designed for building marketplace applications. Developers can facilitate transactions between a third party buyer and seller, take a cut of the transaction, and have control over who pays the transaction processing fees.
• Aggregated Payments Quick Start reduces processing costs by consolidating multiple transactions, including micro-payments, into a single, larger transaction. This Quick Start offers prepaid and postpaid mechanisms to aggregate transactions. You can enable your customers to create prepaid balances that can be used subsequently to make multiple smaller purchases on your web site or you can extend credit and charge them later for accrued usage. In both cases, the Aggregated Payments Quick Start enables you to programmatically track individual transactions and the aggregated amount.
• Account Management Quick Start simplifies integrating account activity, balance and transaction information into websites and existing applications.

While Quick Starts will support most use cases, our Comprehensive API Set can be used to support applications that need access to a more granular set of payment APIs.

Who is Eligible?

• Applications that go live** on Amazon FPS on or after February 5th 2009 are eligible.

• To take advantage of this offer you need to sign up for Amazon FPS before March 15th 2009. Your application must be live** on Amazon FPS by June 1st, 2009.

• Applications that are live** on Amazon FPS before February 5th, 2009 are not eligible to receive this offer.

• This offer is not available on integration with Amazon FPS through a third party ecommerce solution or a shopping cart provider.

• This offer is not available on integration with Checkout by Amazon^TM or Amazon Simple Pay^TM.

Three Important Dates

   90 days from the date your application is live** on Amazon FPS. (If your application is live on Amazon FPS on February 10th 2009, your first 90 days end on May 9th, 2009.)

Legal Terms and Conditions

• This promotional offer (“Offer”) is limited to one per person and application. Participants may not use applications submitted by others or submit multiple applications.
• The Offer is valid for limited time only. Offer is made by Amazon Payments, Inc. Participants must register for the Offer with Amazon Payments by March 15th, 2009.
• Participants must build, integrate and launch a live payment application using the Amazon Flexible Payment Service^TM (Amazon FPS) after February 5th, 2009 but before June 1st, 2009. An application will be deemed to be “live” if it can initiate commercial (not test) transactions using any of the following API calls with Amazon FPS: pay, refund, serve, and settle. Applications must function properly and satisfy applicable, published technical specifications and requirements for Amazon FPS. Applications only used in the Amazon FPS Sandbox or that were live before January 15, 2009 are not eligible. Offer is not valid for applications integrating through a third-party service or application, including those from e-commerce solution or shopping cart provides. Offer does not apply to applications using Amazon Simple Pay^TM products or Checkout by Amazon^TM.
• For transactions processed using qualifying applications, Amazon Payments will waive its processing fees for the first 90 days from the live launch of the application or until the total dollar volume of transactions processed through the application reaches $500,000, whichever is earlier. Thereafter, normal processing fees will apply.
• Participants must register and maintain accounts in good standing with Amazon Payments, Inc. and Amazon Web Services LLC. Participants must be located within the United States to accept payments with Amazon Payments. Use of Amazon FPS and the submission of transactions are subject to the Amazon Payments User Agreement and the Amazon Web Services Customer Agreement.
• Offer may not be used in conjunction with any other promotional or incentive offer from Amazon Payments or any of its affiliates, including Amazon.com, Inc. or Amazon Web Services LLC.
• Offer is not for resale and is not redeemable for cash.
• Offer is void in the event of fraud, mistake or any failure to satisfy any terms of the Offer.
• Amazon Payments reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate or modify this Offer.
