1. What’s new in Amazon Flexible Payments Service?

Amazon Payments is announcing general Availability of Amazon Flexible Payments Service (Amazon FPS) and the launch of Amazon FPS Quick Starts. Amazon FPS Quick Starts aggregate various Amazon FPS APIs into a simplified set of APIs that accelerate development time by significantly reducing the number of calls required to implement an Amazon-FPS based solution. Amazon FPS Quick Starts include: Basic, Advanced, Marketplace, Aggregated and Account Management.

With enhanced documentation, SDKs and sample code, it will now be faster and more convenient to enable payments on your application.

While Quick Starts will support most use cases, our Comprehensive API Set can be used to support applications that need access to a more granular set of payment APIs. Learn more

2. What is the Amazon FPS free payment processing offer?

Amazon Flexible Payments Service (Amazon FPS) has entered general availability with the release of Amazon FPS Quick Starts. Amazon Payments is offering a free payment processing offer with this release of Amazon FPS. You can get free payment processing for applications you launch on Amazon FPS for the first 90 days or until total transaction volume reaches $500,000, whichever occurs first. Sign up before March 15th, 2009 and build a payment application on the updated Amazon FPS before June 1st 2009 to take advantage of this promotion.

3. Who is eligible for this offer?

In order to take advantage of this offer the following conditions must be satisfied:

• Sign up for Amazon FPS before March 15th, 2009 11:59 pm PST.
• Your application must be live** on Amazon FPS by June 1st, 2009 11:59 pm PST.
• Applications that go live** on Amazon FPS on or after February 5th, 2009 are eligible
• Applications that were live** on Amazon FPS before February 5th, 2009 are not eligible.

• This offer is not available on integration with Amazon FPS through a third party ecommerce solution or a shopping cart provider.

• This offer is not available on integration with Checkout by Amazon or Amazon Simple Pay.

4. I already have an application live on Amazon FPS, am I eligible?

Applications that were live** on Amazon FPS before February 5th, 2009 are not eligible for this offer.

5. How do I get this offer?

To benefit from this offer you need to:

• Sign up for Amazon FPS before March 15th, 2009. If you are already registered with Amazon FPS you need to sign up for the free payment processing offer.
• Integrate with Amazon FPS and ensure that your application is live** on Amazon FPS by June 1st, 2009.

6. How does the free payment processing offer work? When does it start and when does it end?

Through this offer your application can get free payment processing for the first 90 days or until total transaction volume reaches $500,000. Your application will not be charged payment processing fees for the duration this offer is valid for you.

Only applications that go live on Amazon FPS after February 5th 12:00 am PST are eligible.

Free processing starts when your application is live** on Amazon FPS. It must be live on Amazon FPS before June 1st 2009.

The offer ends for you when total transaction volume reaches $500,000 or 90 days after your application goes live on Amazon FPS; whichever occurs first

These payment processing fees will apply for every subsequent transaction after the offer ends.

We will notify you by email about when the offer starts and ends.

7. What if my application on Amazon FPS goes live after June 1st 2009?

To benefit from this offer your application must go live on Amazon FPS by June 1st, 2009. You will not qualify for the free payment processing promotion if your application does not go live by June 1st, 2009.

8. Where can I track my total payments volume and the associated savings?

You will be able to check

• your offer start date
• the total payment volume for which fees have been waived
• the payment processing fees saved in the Your Account section on the Amazon Payments website.

We will notify you by email about when the offer starts and ends.

9. I want to build a marketplace application? How can I benefit from this offer?

When you build a marketplace application on Amazon FPS you can decide if you (the caller) pay the processing fees or your marketplace participants (the recipient) pay the processing fees. If you as a caller pay the processing fees, you get the free payment processing benefit. If you wish to extend this benefit to your marketplace participants you need to set relevant parameters in your application.

10. Can I take advantage of this offer by integrating with Amazon Simple Pay or Checkout by Amazon?

No, this offer is not available on integration with Checkout by Amazon or Amazon Simple Pay.

11. What will I be charged after the free payment processing offer ends for my application?

After the free processing ends, fees will be assessed on a per-transaction basis and vary depending on the payment method used and the transaction amount:

• 1.5% + $0.01 for Amazon Payments balance transfers
• 2.0% + $0.05 for bank account debits
• 2.9% + $0.30 for credit card for transactions > $10
• 5.0% + $0.05 for credit card for transactions < $10
