We are excited to announce a new feature that makes it easier to determine the state of your Amazon EC2 Spot Bids in the instance provisioning lifecycle. You can now see detailed information on why your Spot bid states have (or have not) changed, why your Spot instances were terminated or interrupted, and how to optimize your Spot bids to get them fulfilled. To get started, open the Amazon EC2 Management Console and follow these steps:

  1. Click on “Spot Requests” in the Navigation pane
  2. Refer to the new “Status” column in the “My Spot Instance Requests” pane for a short description of your bid statuses
  3. Click on the bid you’re interested in to and see detailed “Status” information in the information pane at the bottom

You may also use the API or CLI to access bid statuses. For more information, please see Jeff Barr’s blog post or visit the Amazon EC2 Developer guide.
