AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) Enables Identity Federation to the AWS Management Console

Posted on: Jan 19, 2012

We are excited to announce that AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) has extended support for identity federation, now enabling federated users to access the AWS Management Console. Identity federation enables you to use your existing corporate identities to grant secure and direct access to the AWS Management Console without creating a new AWS identity for those users. You can enable your users to sign in to your corporate network and then access the AWS Management Console without having to sign in to AWS, providing them single sign on access to AWS. This complements IAM’s existing identity federation capability that enables you to provide federated users secure and direct access to AWS service APIs.
