Amazon DynamoDB Announces Lower Minimum Provisioned Table Throughput

Posted on: Aug 9, 2012

We are happy to announce that we have lowered the minimum provisioned throughput for Amazon DynamoDB.

The smallest provisioned throughput you can now request for a DynamoDB table is 1 write capacity unit and 1 read capacity unit. With this announcement you can:

  • Achieve fine grained I/O provisioning of tables
  • Create multiple tables and still use DynamoDB for free provided the total provisioned throughput across all the tables in your account is within the Free Tier usage limits
