Back in April we previewed the AWS Partner Network (APN) and I’m excited to share that we officially launched it today. As a quick refresher, APN is a global program that enables customers to easily find high quality partners that can help them get the most out of the AWS Cloud, while providing members of the AWS partner ecosystem with the technical, sales and marketing support they need to build a successful cloud business.
When we launched the public beta of APN we were delighted by the response of both customers and partners who were looking for ways to more deeply engage with Amazon Web Services. Our partners are critical to helping customers run their applications on AWS and we are proud that our partner community has invested so much in our platform. With APN we are matching their trust with a broader investment of our own, delivering better training, programs, and tools to help our partners grow their cloud practices and continue to be trusted advisers to AWS customers of all sizes.
The APN is designed for both technology partners who offer applications and developer tools on top of AWS and consulting partners who help our customers deploy their applications on AWS. Partners can qualify for one of three tiers - Registered, Standard and Advanced. The specific benefits associated with these tiers are outlined on the APN site and in the table below:

Today we are also expanding the AWS Channel Reseller Program and launching the new Authorized Government Partner designation. The Channel Reseller Program is designed for select Systems Integrators and Managed Service Providers who provide professional services on the AWS platform and wish to resell and manage AWS services for their customers. APN Partners who qualify as Channel Reseller Partners under the program will be eligible to receive discounts on standard AWS published pricing and public designation as an AWS Channel Partner with a logo. In order to qualify as a Channel Reseller Partner, partners must have already qualified under APN as an Advanced tier Consulting Partner and must meet additional requirements such as owning and managing accounts on behalf of their customers, providing customers with help desk support, executing the AWS Reseller agreement, and meeting additional criteria as outlined on the AWS Channel Reseller Program page.
The new Authorized Government Partner designation is designed for APN partners that have a public sector AWS practice and wish to target prospective public sector customers at the Federal, State, and Local levels. Partners that qualify for this new designation will receive a logo and formal recognition by AWS as an Authorized Government Partner. In order to qualify as an Authorized Government Partner, partners must have already qualified as either a Standard or Advanced partner and must meet additional requirements such as having at least two government prime contracts at the Federal, State, or Local levels that are eligible AWS customers, have executed all necessary Government addendum(s) to the AWS Reseller Agreement, and met other requirements as outlined on the Authorized Government Partner page.
We are already engaged with thousands of partners around the world and we’re glad to have their support. Here are a few comments we’ve heard thus far:
“We are experiencing huge customer demand for AWS products and services. Becoming an Advanced Consulting Partner under APN recognizes our team’s talent, technical skills, and our ability to understand and address our customers’ business needs. APN and the Channel Reseller program give us both knowledge and cost benefits we are able to directly pass on to our customers.” (Esa Kinnunen, CEO, Nordcloud)
“As a leader in security and threat management, Trend Micro has moved quickly to develop a variety of innovative solutions on AWS. APN’s public endorsement as an Advanced Technology Partner highlights the value we bring customers deploying on AWS and raises general awareness of our applicability in the cloud.” (Partha Panda, Vice President, Business Development, Trend Micro Incorporated)
“Smartronix has been delivering public sector solutions on AWS for years, but we’ve never had a standard set of performance-based tiers to validate our position in the AWS ecosystem. As an Advanced tier Consulting Partner and Authorized Government Partner, we are able to provide added assurance to prospective federal clients that we have substantial experience on AWS and can get the job done.” (Rob Groat, CTO, Smartronix)
"The Amazon Network Partner (APN) is essential for Punto X to provide its state of art in cloud solutions on AWS to the Brazilian Market. APN brings confidence, security and better results to our customers and a great recognition to Punto X." (Fabiano Barros, CTO, Punto X)
“The Amazon Partner Network (APN) has made a significant impact on Datapipe’s recognition as a leading managed service provider. The delivery of our services on top of the AWS Cloud platform and participation in the APN ecosystem demonstrates our commitment to leadership in providing cloud computing solutions.” (Bill Dolan, Vice President of Business Development, Datapipe)
