AWS Direct Connect is one of the best ways to provide low latency and high performance connectivity in the Amazon cloud. This can be achieved by provisioning physical fiber from the customer’s location or data center into AWS Direct Connect points of presence. However, as with any physical infrastructure deployment, avoiding a single point of failure is always recommended. This webinar will provide an overview on AWS Direct Connect redundancy methods and techniques, including redundant physical fibers, redundant BGP sessions for both active/active and active/passive deployments, as well as other best practices like Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) configuration. It is suggested that webinar attendees have a working knowledge of Amazon VPC, Amazon EC2, general networking, and an understanding of routing protocols.

This webinar is the first part of a three part series: a deep dive on implementing Disaster Recovery (DR) on AWS. Since each webinar focuses on specific architectures, you can still benefit if you are able to attend only one or two. Cloud computing provides unprecedented capacities to build highly sophisticated architectures for DR, due to the fundamental nature of features like elasticity, scalability, scriptable infrastructure and geographic distribution. Implementing DR using AWS architectures can result in up to a 90% cost reduction and up to a 70% reduction in recovery time compared to conventional DR sites.

Part Three:

In this session, we will dive deep into Warm Standby and Multi-Site Architecture. We will discuss this architecture in depth, as well as best practices, tools, and techniques get the most out of them.
