Announcing Elastic Load Balancing in Amazon VPC

Posted on: Nov 21, 2011

We are excited to announce that you can now use Elastic Load Balancing with Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). The same easy-to-use features of Elastic Load Balancing are available in VPC, such as SSL termination, health checks, sticky sessions, and CloudWatch monitoring. IPv6 support is not available in VPC at this time. In addition to these features, when you provision an Elastic Load Balancer for your VPC, you can now assign security groups to your Elastic Load Balancer. In addition, you can register instances with your Elastic Load Balancer without having public IP addresses assigned to the instances in your VPC. Elastic Load Balancing will continue to distribute traffic across multiple Availability Zones if you have subnets allocated in more than one Availability Zone.
