Amazon Route 53 Announces Zone File Import and Integrated Health Check Graphs

Posted on: Aug 14, 2013

We are excited to announce two new enhancements to the Route 53 console available today: zone file import and integrated health check graphs.

With the zone file import feature, it is now even easier to migrate a domain into Route 53. The Route 53 console now lets you import standard DNS zone files that can be exported from many DNS providers or standard DNS server software such as BIND. When you create a new Route 53 hosted zone for your domain, you now have the option to paste your zone file directly into the Route 53 console, and Route 53 will automatically create the records in your hosted zone.

With health check graphs integrated into the Route 53 console, it is now even easier to manage your Route 53 health checks—it is no longer necessary to switch between the Route 53 and CloudWatch consoles to view current and past statuses of your health checks or configure alarms and notifications. Amazon CloudWatch Alarms and notifications based on your health check results can be configured in the Route 53 console tab where you create and manage your health checks.
