New AWS customers can get started at no cost on Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), including Amazon Aurora, with the AWS Free Tier. You will receive up to $100 in AWS credits at sign-up and can earn up to an additional $100 in credits, totaling $200, to explore eligible AWS services on both Free and Paid plans. With Free plan, you can explore Aurora and RDS for up to 6 months without any commitments or cost. To explore beyond the Free plan limits, you can switch to the Paid plan at any time, where incremental charges may apply after credits have been depleted.

Aurora PostgreSQL serverless

Use credits to access Aurora PostgreSQL features in both Free and Paid plans.

  • Aurora PostgreSQL serverless is available on Free plan with up to 4 Aurora Capacity Units (ACU) and 1 GiB of storage per cluster. 
  • For usage beyond these limits, you can upgrade to a Paid plan at any time to increase capacity up to 256 ACUs and automatically scale storage up to 256 TiB.

 

Aurora DSQL

Use credits to access Aurora DSQL features in both Free and Paid plans.

  • Aurora DSQL is an always free service. You can use your credits to evaluate beyond these monthly limits of 100k Distributed Processing Units (DPU) and 1 GiB of storage.

  • Free plan is available on db.t3.micro and db.t4g.micro instances for the following 4 engines: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and Microsoft SQL Server (SQL server Express Edition only).

 

AWS Legacy Free Tier

If you activated your free tier account prior to July 15th, 2025, you can continue to use select RDS instances for free up to 12 months after your sign-up date.
