Release: Amazon Simple Queue Service on 2012-11-05
Amazon Simple Queue Service adds long polling, client-side buffering, and request batching, and also adds support for signature version 4.
||The 2012-11-05 API version of Amazon SQS adds long polling support. Long polling allows for Amazon SQS to wait for a specified amount time for a message to be available instead of returning an empty response if one is not available. For more information about long polling, go to Amazon SQS Long Polling in the Amazon Simple Queue Service Developer Guide.
|Client-Side Buffering and Request Batching
||The AWS SDK for Java now includes a buffered asynchronous client, AmazonSQSBufferedAsyncClient, for accessing Amazon SQS. This new client allows for easier request batching by enabling client-side buffering, where calls made from the client are first buffered and then sent as a batch request to Amazon SQS. For more information about client-side buffering and request batching, go to Client-Side Buffering and Request Batching in the Amazon Simple Queue Service Developer Guide.
|Signature Version 4
||The 2012-11-05 API version of Amazon SQS adds support for signature version 4, which provides improved security and performance. For more information about signature version 4, go to Query Request Authentication in the Amazon Simple Queue Service Developer Guide.
