New Features

Feature Description
Support for US West (Northern California) Region AWS Direct Connect was previously available only at the Equinix DC1-DC6 colocation facilities in Ashburn, VA, which provide access to all AWS resources in the US East (Northern Virginia) Region. This release adds support for the Equinix SV1 and SV5 colocation facilities in San Jose, CA, which provide access to all AWS resources in the US West (Northern California) Region. An AWS Direct Connect location provides access to AWS in the region it is associated with. You can establish connections with AWS Direct Connect locations in multiple regions, but a connection in one region does not provide connectivity to other regions.
Billing behavior modification for AWS Direct Connect customers Data transfer over AWS Direct Connect will be billed in the same month that the usage occurred. Standard Internet data transfer incurred by using other AWS services will be charged the following month. For example, if you transfer 500GB over AWS Direct Connect and 1500GB over the Internet in June, you will be charged for 500GB of data transfer at AWS Direct Connect rates on your June billing statement and 1500GB of data transfer at standard Internet data transfer rates on your July billing statement. For more information, see the AWS Direct Connect product page.
