New Features

Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)

Load balancers now have Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) IP addresses. This support is in addition to continued support for Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) addresses. Currently, IPv6 support exists only in the US-East and EU-West regions. For more information, go to Using IPv6 with Elastic Load Balancing.

Domain name zone apex aliases

You can now associate a domain's zone apex (e.g. example.com) with your load balancer by creating an Amazon Route 53 hosted zone. For more information, go to Using Domain Names With Elastic Load Balancing.

Application instance lockdown

Elastic Load Balancing provides a special Amazon EC2 security group that you can use to ensure that a back-end Amazon EC2 instance receives traffic only from Elastic Load Balancing. For more information, go to Using Security Groups with Elastic Load Balancing.
