Cluster Compute Eight Extra Large Instance Type Support Now Available in Amazon VPC

Posted on: Apr 26, 2012

We are excited to announce that Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) now supports the EC2 Cluster Compute Eight Extra Large instance type.

Cluster Compute Eight Extra Large (cc2.8xlarge) instances provide you with on-demand supercomputing class performance by giving you access to the latest Intel Xeon processors and high bandwidth, low latency networking. Many of our customers in life sciences, oil and gas, manufacturing, space exploration, and business computing have asked for the ability to launch cc2.8xlarge instance into an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) for improved network management and isolation for business critical tasks. At this time cc2.8xlarge instances can be launched into a VPC in a single Availability Zone in the US-East (N. Virginia) region. We will add support for additional Availability Zones and Regions in the coming months.
