telelok

Telelok offers furniture rental as a strategic solution for administrators, infrastructure managers and business event planners. Furniture rental is economical, and a good option for any company needing to expand operations; hire temporary employees; conduct corporate training, conferences, special events, or workshops. Office furniture rental offers a quick alteration for the office environment, or an effective way to standardize or update the environment, with minimum capital investment.

The Business Challenges

Erika Porcaro, IT Manager at Telelok describes the company’s needs prior to signing on with AWS: “We sought to improve our server performance, gain scalability, and operate without the physical limitations of the on premise model.”

Why Amazon Web Services

“The choice to work with AWS,” explains Erika, “was facilitated by a recommendation from AWS provider Dedalus, as well as industry references.”

The Business Benefits

Now Telelok uses AWS to virtualize their Microsiga ERP servers and website. Additionally, they use Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) as a backup solution. No language was used to build their solution; Erika says, “We just migrated the Microsiga ERP servers.”

Microsiga has a hardware called hardlock, which carries the licenses and have to be connected to a physical server. As in the cloud computing model this doesn’t exist, we have to use  a emulator, which creates a logical copy of the Microsiga hardlock hardware, and put it in the server which is on AWS. This solution, developed by a teamwork of Dedalus and Microsiga, allowed the environment performance to achieve the customer business needs and expectations.  Erika shares some of the learning that has taken place in the migration process: “We learned that topology design and risk assessments allowed us to anticipate solutions and possibilities.”

The team is currently focused on stabilizing the environment. “After that,” notes Erika, “we will certainly evaluate new AWS solutions. We appreciate AWS’s incomparable dynamism and flexibility, not to mention the impressive performance of the AWS environment.”
