Q: What is the Microsoft BizSpark program?
Microsoft® BizSpark® is a global program designed to provide startup companies with access to Microsoft software, development tools, technical support and marketing visibility. As part of this program, Microsoft BizSpark offers program participants Microsoft software licenses, including Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2. Q: What benefits are available to BizSpark participants on AWS?
For AWS customers participating in the BizSpark program, AWS charges the price of the equivalent Linux offering for any on-demand AWS services, where applicable.
Q: What benefit limits are in place for BizSpark customers on AWS?
Program benefits will not be available on AWS if the customer has configured linked accounts through consolidated billing. Also, customers associating their AWS account with a BizSpark Subscriber ID cannot use Spot, Reserved, or Dedicated instances in conjunction with the program – these products will be charged at the regular Amazon EC2 price.
Q: How does a customer join the BizSpark program?
Microsoft manages the BizSpark program. AWS customers who are not a BizSpark member and meet the requirements on the BizSpark program site may apply now.
Q: How does a customer start using BizSpark benefits on AWS?
The customer will have to register AWS as a network hosting partner on BizSpark’s site. More details are available here. Note: You must be the Primary BizSpark Member to take advantage of this offer. Also, the BizSpark Subscriber ID used to register on AWS is a numeric ID starting with 140*.
Q: Will BizSpark customers have access to the AWS free usage tier?
No. BizSpark customers will not have access to the AWS free usage tier.
Q: Will BizSpark customers have access to discounted pricing on Spot, Reserved, and Dedicated instances?
No. At this time, BizSpark customers will not have access to discounted pricing on Spot, Reserved, and Dedicated instances. These products will be charged at the regular Amazon EC2 prices.
Q: How much does it cost for a customer to use BizSpark programs on AWS?
There is no additional cost to participate in the BizSpark program on AWS.
Q: Will there be a price list for BizSpark customers available on the AWS site?
Customers can rely on the Linux/Unix on-demand instance pricing for applicable instances, as listed on the Amazon EC2 pricing page. The on-demand price applied to a customer’s usage will be displayed on the AWS Account Activity page.
Q: Is this program applicable to all AWS Regions?
It is applied to all AWS Regions except GovCloud.
