Sun Microsystems and Amazon Web Services have teamed up to provide you with the ability to use Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) to run several Sun platform technologies. Sun provides several Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) to help you get started in minutes.

MySQL Enterprise

Sun Microsystems has enabled organizations and developers to use MySQL Enterprise running on Amazon EC2 on a subscription basis. With MySQL Enterprise, developers can cost-effectively deploy an open source database “in the cloud” with full software and production support by the database experts at MySQL. Amazon EC2 with MySQL Enterprise offers developers optimal performance, reliability, security, and uptime.

OpenSolaris

Using Amazon EC2 with OpenSolaris provides access to a robust open source operating system on a scalable, reliable, cost-effective virtual computing environment. Sun is offering a variety of OpenSolaris 2008.11 AMIs in the beta program (both 32-bit and 64-bit AMIs):

Sun GlassFishâ„¢ Portfolio, based on the GlassFish application server, is a high-performance, open source, and comprehensive Web platform. The Sun GlassFish Portfolio provides the middleware software needed to deliver Web applications throughout the enterprise. The Portfolio is divided into four components, serving four technology sub-areas:

As an essential element in the overall identity management infrastructure, this directory service helps enhance the availability, security, interoperability, and manageability of key identity data across the organization.
