3:30PM-4:30PM How Tapjoy Cut Build Times by 92%:  GitHub to Jenkins to Spot Instance Parallelization and Back One of the major hurdles to implementing an end-to-end CI/CD workflow is scaling the choke points to accommodate more projects and more commits. We will dive into how spot instances can help you scale by looking at Tapjoy's Ruby RSpec workflow, from GitHub pull requests received by the ghprb plugin, to the workflow plugin and the ec2 plugin and spot instances as nodes. We automatically build each pull request and update the GitHub UI with results and parallelized builds on the spot. With this process, we have reduced test turnaround from 90 minutes to seven minutes. Intermediate

The first part of the class will be an overview of user experience and the second part will dive more deeply into how to find and fix broken flows, tricks that make users smile, and different ways to approach mobile and web apps. We'll discuss ways to get the basics right. Beginner

2:30PM-4:30PM General Assembly Presents: Visual Design Hacking Mini-Bootcamp When designing products and services, great visual design leads to higher perceived value. "Make it look good" and "Make it look designy" are some things commonly heard in companies, big and small, among both engineers and business developers. In the search for great design, the myth often encountered is that there are only a gifted few who are great designers -- sometimes even referred to as "the unicorns." This is absolutely not true. Anyone can become a great designer with the right training and exposure. People in charge of products, developers, engineers, and business developers can also benefit greatly by learning these hacks. This class takes a crack at tips, tricks, and shortcuts to creating great visual designs. . Beginner
