AWS Database Migration Service Adds Support for AWS Snowball
AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) now supports installing a local replication agent on-premises and can now migrate data to the AWS cloud with AWS Snowball, a petabyte-scale data transport solution. Snowball uses secure physical appliances to transfer large amounts of data into and out of the AWS cloud.
Transferring large databases and data warehouses over the network can be expensive and slow. The combination of DMS and Snowball now allows you to upload data locally in your datacenter into the Snowball appliance, then securely ship it to AWS. You can run multiple, concurrent DMS tasks to migrate data at petabyte scale with minimal downtime directly through S3. Read this blog post for more details.
