Amazon Macie Releases Administrative APIs To Enable IT Management Workflow Automation

Posted on: Jun 21, 2018

Today, Amazon Macie released new administrative APIs that are now part of the AWS SDK. The new Macie APIs enable you to automate your IT management workflows, such as associating Amazon S3 resources with Amazon Macie. When new Amazon S3 buckets are created, you can now programmatically associate them with Macie for data discovery, classification, and ongoing data access monitoring.

Amazon Macie is a fully managed service that recognizes sensitive data such as personally identifiable information (PII) or credential data, and it provides you with dashboards and alerts that give visibility into how this data is being accessed. Macie will also generate alerts when it detects risk of unauthorized access or inadvertent data leaks.

The new set of Amazon Macie APIs allows you to associate and disassociate AWS account IDs and Amazon S3 buckets with Macie. The APIs also allow you to programmatically get a list of accounts and buckets currently associated with Amazon Macie. The Amazon Macie administrative APIs are part of the AWS SDK, so you can get started using the tools you are already familiar with. It is available in Java, Python, Go, Java Script, .NET, PHP, and Ruby.

Amazon Macie is currently available in the US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon) regions. Learn more by reading the Amazon Macie API Reference.
