AWS Direct Connect live in Denmark and Norway
AWS Direct Connect is announcing immediate availability of new locations in Copenhagen, Denmark and Oslo, Norway. Both these locations are the first in their respective countries. In Copenhagen, AWS Direct Connect is live at Interxion CPH2 and in Oslo, at DigiPlex Ulven data center. In the Management Console, these sites can be found under the EU (Frankfurt) Region. With global access for AWS Direct Connect, these sites can reach AWS resources in any global AWS region using global public VIFs and Direct Connect Gateway.
Customers in Copenhagen and Oslo can now establish a dedicated network connection from their premises to AWS. As with any AWS Direct Connect site, these sites conform to the standard resiliency model that includes two customer facing devices per location that allow customers to establish locally resilient connectivity and redundant connectivity to the Amazon backbone network. Using AWS Direct Connect, you can establish private connectivity between AWS and your datacenter, office, or colocation environment, which in many cases can reduce your network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections. Connections are always made to a particular Direct Connect location, and can run at either 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps, or work with a partner to connect at speeds less than 1Gbps.
