Amazon Elasticsearch Service now supports SQL querying
New SQL support enables you to query your domain using the familiar SQL syntax without compromising on Elasticsearch’s full-text search and scoring capabilities. With SQL support, you can query your data using aggregations, group by, and where clauses to investigate your data.
Amazon Elasticsearch Service supports more than 40 SQL functions, data types, and commands, including direct export to CSV and query translation from SQL to the Elasticsearch DSL. You can run SQL queries against your domains with the built-in REST API and the Kibana Dev Console. SQL also supports a JDBC driver to connect to your favorite SQL tools.
SQL support is available on domains running Elasticsearch 6.5 and higher. You can upgrade existing 5.x and 6.x domains with no downtime using in-place version upgrades. To learn more about SQL support on Amazon Elasticsearch Service, see the documentation.
