AWS X-Ray Now Supports Amazon SQS

Posted on: Aug 28, 2019

You can now use AWS X-Ray to trace messages that pass through Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS). AWS X-Ray makes it easy to troubleshoot performance issues and errors in your distributed applications and microservice architecture.

The AWS X-Ray Console shows a map of connections between Amazon SQS and other services that your application uses. You can also use the console to view metrics such as average latency and failure rates. For example, you can trace messages sent to an Amazon SQS queue for distribution to your consumers running on Amazon EC2 container service and on-premise hosts.

Amazon SQS is a fully managed message queuing service that enables you to decouple and scale microservices, distributed systems, and serverless applications. Amazon SQS eliminates the complexity and overhead associated with managing and operating message-oriented middleware, and empowers developers to focus on differentiating work.

AWS X-Ray support for Amazon SQS is available in all AWS X-Ray Regions.
