Amazon Elasticsearch Service announces support for Elasticsearch versions 7.4

Posted on: Mar 12, 2020

Amazon Elasticsearch Service now supports open source Elasticsearch 7.4 and its corresponding version of Kibana. This minor release includes bug fixes and enhancements.

In the new release, Elasticsearch adds support for distance feature query. The distance_feature query boosts scores for documents based on the proximity to a given input and is a specialized query that only works on date and geo point fields. Elasticsearch also adds support for aggregations based on range field types. Also, Kibana supports importing and exporting saved objects, dashboards, visualizations, index patterns and other advanced settings along with dependencies via the API.

You can now create new domains running Elasticsearch 7.4 and also easily upgrade existing 5.x, 6.x and 7.1 domains with no downtime using in-place version upgrades.

Elasticsearch 7.4 release includes support for recently released features like Advanced Security with role based access control, Index State Management and K-Nearest Neighbor Search. The release also includes updates to the previously released features like Alerting, SQL Support. All these features are components of Open Distro for Elasticsearch, an Apache 2.0-licensed distribution of Elasticsearch.
