AWS Global Accelerator Now Supports Endpoints in the Africa (Cape Town) and Europe (Milan) Regions

Posted on: May 20, 2020

Starting today, AWS Global Accelerator supports application endpoints in the Africa (Cape Town) and Europe (Milan) AWS Regions, bringing the count of supported regions to 20.

Global Accelerator is a service that improves the availability and performance of your internet-facing applications. It provides static IP addresses that act as a fixed entry point to your application endpoints in a single or multiple AWS Regions, such as your Application Load Balancers, Network Load Balancers or Amazon EC2 instances.

AWS Global Accelerator uses the AWS global network to optimize the path from your users to your applications, improving the performance of your traffic by as much as 60%. You can test the performance benefits from your location with a speed comparison tool. AWS Global Accelerator continually monitors the health of your application endpoints and redirects traffic to healthy endpoints in less than 30 seconds. Customers such as theTradeDesk, Skyscanner, New Relic, Flowplayer, Par Tech, Team Internet AG, and CrazyCall have been using Global Accelerator for applications ranging from web applications to gaming, video streaming, Internet of Things, and Voice over IP.

With Global Accelerator, you pay only for what you use. You are charged for each Accelerator that is provisioned and the amount of traffic in the dominant direction that flows through the accelerator. To get started, visit the AWS Global Accelerator website and review its documentation
