Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) is a fast, scalable, highly available, and fully managed document database service that supports MongoDB workloads. Amazon DocumentDB makes it easy and intuitive to store, query, and index JSON data.
Today, Amazon DocumentDB added support for copying automatic or manual snapshots across regions. With cross-region snapshot copy you can now copy a snapshot to another region for the purpose of disaster recovery, security, or to populate a development/test environment.
You can initiate the copy from the AWS Management Console or the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI). There is no charge for the copy operation itself; you pay only for the data transfer out of the source region and for the data storage in the destination region. You are not charged if the copy fails, but you are charged if you cancel a snapshot that is underway at the time. Please see the documentation for more information.
