Amazon API Gateway HTTP APIs now supports wildcard custom domain names

Posted on: Aug 10, 2020

Customers can use wildcard custom domain names to easily create multiple URLs that route to one Amazon API Gateway HTTP API. This update extends API Gateway’s current support for wildcard custom domain names to include HTTP APIs.

Previously, wildcard custom domain names supported Edge, Regional, and WebSocket APIs but not HTTP APIs. In HTTP APIs, customers had to create a new custom domain name for every subdomain even though each subdomain routed to the same API. Now, customers can use a single wildcard custom domain name to provide multiple URLs with different subdomains that route to the same API.

API Gateway’s support for wildcard custom domain names is generally available in all regions where ACM is available. To learn more about wildcard custom domains, read the documentation. For more information about Amazon API Gateway, visit our product page.
