Announcing the express testing capability in Amazon Lex

Posted on: Aug 28, 2020

Amazon Lex now provides the express testing capability on the AWS Management Console to expedite the chatbot building process. Amazon Lex is a service for building conversational interfaces into any application using voice and text. With the express testing capability, you can start testing basic interaction elements such as the conversation flow, prompts, responses, and fulfillment logic soon after you initiate the build process without having to wait for the entire build to finish.

Previously, you had to wait for the entire bot to build before you could confirm or test your changes. The new express testing feature allows you to check your changes sooner with an intermediate model and reduce the overall time required to deploy a bot in production. You can start validating your changes with test utterances that exactly match your training data and check the conversation flow, bot responses, and business logic in the test console. Once the entire build completes, you can continue with more rigorous testing before publishing it via interactive voice response (IVR), mobile apps, channels, and SDKs.

The new express testing capability for Amazon Lex allows you to accelerate iteration, test ideas, and make faster design decisions. The feature is available today in the N. Virginia, Oregon, Dublin, London, Sydney, Frankfurt, Tokyo, and Singapore regions. For more information, see the Amazon Lex Developer Guide and blogpost.
