Amazon Lex, a service for building conversational interfaces into any application using voice and text, is now available in the AWS GovCloud (US-West) Region. Amazon Lex provides the advanced deep learning functionalities of automatic speech recognition (ASR) for converting speech to text, and natural language understanding (NLU) to recognize the intent of the text, to enable you to build applications with highly engaging user experiences and lifelike conversational interactions. With Amazon Lex, you can quickly and easily build sophisticated, natural language, conversational bots (“chatbots”), virtual agents and IVR systems.

With this launch, Amazon Lex is now available in 9 Regions globally, US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), EU (Frankfurt, Ireland and London), Asia Pacific (Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo) and AWS GovCloud (US-West).
