AWS Glue Studio now provides the option to define transforms using SQL queries, allowing you to perform aggregations, easily apply filter logic to your data, add calculated fields, and more. This feature makes it easy to seamlessly mix SQL queries with AWS Glue Studio’s visual transforms while authoring ETL jobs.

AWS Glue Studio makes AWS Glue ETL approachable for users who are new to Apache Spark programming and to users who are accustomed to ETL tools with flow diagram interfaces. Previously, users needed to use Spark code snippets to add transforms not already available as visual transforms. With the new Spark SQL interface, data analysts and other users with no Spark experience can author and execute ETL jobs in Glue.

AWS Glue Studio is available in the following AWS Regions: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio),US West (N. California), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Hong Kong), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Osaka), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), Europe (London), Europe (Milan), Europe (Paris), Europe (Stockholm), Middle East (Bahrain), and South America (São Paulo).
