Personal Identifiable Information (PII) detection and remediation in AWS Glue is now available in preview. This feature uses pattern matching and machine learning to automatically detect PII at both the column and cell levels during an AWS Glue job run. AWS Glue includes options to log the type of PII and its location and immediately take remedial action as necessary.
PII detection in AWS Glue identifies a variety of PII data and allows customers to take action, such as tracking it for audit purposes or redacting the PII before writing it into a data lake. AWS Glue Studio’s visual, no-code interface lets users include PII detection and remediation as a step in a data integration job, with options for which types of PII to detect as well as follow-on actions.
This feature is available in these AWS Regions: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Northern California), US West (Oregon), and Europe (Ireland).
