AWS IoT Greengrass 1.9.2 With Support for OpenWrt and AWS IoT Device Tester is Now Available

Posted on: Jun 20, 2019

AWS IoT Greengrass Core 1.9.2 is now available. With this release, AWS IoT Greengrass adds support for the OpenWrt operating system.

This new feature enables customers to use AWS IoT Greengrass Core on Edge devices running OpenWrt on Armv7l and Armv8 CPU architectures. These customers can now connect these devices to the Cloud, execute AWS Lambda functions, execute predictions based on ML Models and keep device data in sync, even with not directly connected to the internet. Customers can deploy IoT Greengrass on any OpenWrt image that uses Linux kernel 3.17, or later.

This feature is available to all AWS customers starting today. For more information about AWS IoT Greengrass, visit https://aws.amazon.com/greengrass. For guidance on getting started with AWS IoT Greengrass and Openwrt, view the blog here.

AWS IoT Device Tester verifies that the combination of your device’s CPU architecture, Linux kernel configuration, and drivers work with AWS IoT Greengrass. It performs a series of automated functional tests including end-to-end tests with AWS IoT Core to validate that your device can interoperate with AWS IoT Services. AWS IoT Device Tester enables APN partners to qualify (AWS Device Qualification Program (DQP)) and list devices in the AWS Partner Device Catalog
