Announcing the Updated AWS Managed Service Provider (MSP) Partner Program Validation Checklist – Version 3.1

We have exciting news to share with our existing and aspiring MSP Partners. Today we are announcing the launch of the updated AWS Managed Service Provider (MSP) Partner Program Validation Checklist – Version 3.1. The checklist has been updated based on feedback from our MSP Partner community and, of course, with an ongoing focus on delivering high quality customer experiences.

What is the AWS MSP Partner Program?

For those not already familiar with the MSP Partner Program, it was developed out of a request from customers to help them identify APN Partners who could help them migrate, run and optimize their AWS workloads. The program was thus created to align customers with a set of validated next generation APN Partners who could deliver this full experience: plan/design >> build/migrate >> run >> optimize. In addition to a robust set of requirements, the MSP Partner Program also incorporates the use of a 3rd party validation audit that is consultative in nature to bring value to both the participating APN Partners, as well as to customers who can more confidently identify qualified APN Partners.

What’s new or different in Version 3.1?

The focus of the changes from v3.0 to v 3.1 has been clarification, simplification and improving the MSP Partner experience. The language in several of the more complex program requirements has been updated and clarified. The definitions of acceptable evidence for several requirements has been expanded to allow greater flexibility for MSP Partners who maintain specific closely aligned industry certifications. The scoring methodology has been simplified and greater transparency shared with our MSP Partners. And lastly, the renewal process has been streamlined for MSP Partners who have already achieved Version 3.0 requirements. (Those MSP Partners who were last audited using Version 2.x will still require a full audit this year.) The following is the full list of changes made:

  1. Updated scoring methodology. (See Scoring Explained)
  2. Reduced scope for non-Reseller Partners. (See Scoring Explained)

Are there any new program benefits?

Yes! We are excited to share that we are expanding the program benefits that are currently available to our MSP Partners.

  • Exclusive marketing campaigns are being made available on APN Marketing Central, focused on the Security, Migration and DevOps capabilities of next generation AWS MSP Partners. These co-branded campaigns can be executed on the APN Marketing Central platform or MSP Partners can create co-branded assets using APN Marketing Central, then use that content to execute campaigns on their own platforms. This benefit will be made available mid-February 2017. If you are an eligible MSP Partner, please look for an email with more information shortly.
  • AWS Managed Service Provider (MSP) Partner Program Audit Report will now be made available to MSP Partners for audits completed beginning in January 2017, provided by the 3rd party audit firm. This report will focus on an MSP Partner’s capabilities and strengths as identified during the program audit and can be used as a customer facing asset.
