Chivas Nambiar is the general manager of the global telecom business unit at Amazon Web Services (AWS). He leads a worldwide team who are focused on enabling communication service providers, network equipment providers, and ISVs to transform their business by moving to the cloud. His team has been driving aggressive adoption of cloud, delivering cost savings, increasing business agility, accelerating innovation and creating new business opportunities across different telecommunications domains globally. Chivas is an engineer by training, and is passionate about building teams, working with customers and partners to accelerate the pace of innovation, and is dedicated to the transformation of the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining AWS in 2020, Chivas spent 17 years in the telecom industry at Verizon Communications Inc, where he led Verizon’s effort to migrate over 1,000 business-critical applications from its extensive IT and network systems portfolio to the public cloud in his last role as Executive Director, Cloud and Platform Engineering. In prior roles, Chivas ran global 24x7 operations teams responsible for systems availability as well as engineering teams working on advanced Voice Over IP (VoIP) and Wi-Fi product development and implementation. When Chivas is not working, he is learning to swim to keep up with his water-loving toddler and enjoys grilling for extended family gatherings.
