The CloudFormer template creation tool fails to launch, with the error message "No default VPC found for this user."

This error most commonly occurs when the default VPC is deleted before attempting to launch the CloudFormer tool to create a CloudFormation stack. By default, CloudFormer attempts to launch the resource in the default VPC.

Use one of the following methods to resolve this issue:

  • Launch the CloudFormer tool in a different region. Because CloudFormer is a global tool, you can run it in a different region to create a CloudFormation template; this is the easiest and recommended procedure.
  • Modify the template used as the basis for launching the CloudFormer tool to point to your VPC.
  • Contact AWS Support to request the creation of a new default VPC.
