Nitesh shows you how
to create an Amazon Machine Image
based on an EC2 instance
running Windows

I want to create an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) that I can use to launch multiple copies of an Amazon EC2 instance running Windows, or to create a point-in-time backup of my EC2 instance running Windows. How do I do that?

If your instance is EBS-backed, you can create an AMI based on your instance by following the instructions at Creating a Windows AMI from a Running Instance.

After you initiate the creation of an AMI based on an instance, you can view the status of the AMI in the AMIs pane of the Amazon EC2 console. When the status of the AMI is available, you can launch new instances from that AMI.
