I put in a request for a Spot instance—when will the Spot instance launch on my account?

When you put in a Spot request, you specify the price that you’re willing to pay for that instance per-hour. The Spot instance launches when your bid price is higher than the current Spot price, if that instance type is available for launch.

Because Spot prices are based on the bids placed by you and all other AWS customers, and these bids are variable, it’s not possible to predict exactly when a Spot instance will launch.

To increase the likelihood that your Spot request will be fulfilled (and potentially shorten the time to fulfillment), consider canceling your current Spot request and placing another one with a higher bid.

For more specific information about Spot instances, see How Spot Instances Work.
