Ad Hoc Search allows users to specify folders of documents they will share with different groups of users.  The groups self-assemble on the local network using zero-configuration technology.

Searching is done in a familiar way and results are presented in a flexible format in Internet Explorer.  The results can include both documents with a snippet of the relevant contents and the vocabulary of the results or a specific document.  Its like being able to look in an exhaustive index in the back of the document to see what unique words exist - rather than guess.

Ad Hoc Search uses Amazon's S3 web service to extend document search and retrieval in the local network to specific peers specified by the user across the internet, and to give users the ability to allow anyone on the Internet using Ad Hoc Search to search and retrieve documents from a folder.
